Therapy

What to Expect

Therapy is a place for individuals to gain insight into themselves. As a therapist, my job is not to give advice but to help you process your concerns and discover tools that help you cope with overwhelming stressors. I hope to give you the space to sit with your experiences, and guide you in learning new language and tools to navigate these challenged.

If you are interested in meeting with me for therapy, feel free to email me with questions or to set up an appointment. We can get to know each other, you can ask more questions about what to expect, and if we are a good fit, we can start developing expectations and goals for what therapy will look like for you.

Am I the right fit for you?

I believe that pain and suffering is a part of being human, even though we may not like it. All of us experience loss, grief, and even trauma. Anxiety and depression can also be common in our day to day lives. When we feel this way, sometimes we do not know how to process it or work through it. Our brains try to find ways to solve our problems, but when it’s too much, we become overwhelmed.

First, we need to gain insight into what is there that is bothering you, what we are trying to “fix”, and let it exist. Second, we need to look at your reactions to it – your thoughts, your emotions, and your body sensations. And third, we can utilize different tools and processes to help you find a way to navigate through those experiences. We as humans like to skip to the third step, let me help you slow down so we can sink into this work together.

If you feel stuck, a great step is to work with a therapist that has different tools for you to try and a new perspective. My main goal is to help you accept the uncomfortable parts of being human while we work together to help you move towards what matters to you and become the person you want to be.
